Spring Home Care Tips
With Easter just around the corner, spring is in the air! The days area getting longer and warmer, so it’s time to shake off your winter coat and move forward into the season of renewal. Your home could probably use a little TLC after surviving El Nino, and the Yarbrough Group has some quick and easy things you can do to revitalize your home this spring.
Check Your Roof
With all the rain we got this year, you would probably notice if you roof sprang a major leak, but even a small leak can seriously compromise the safety and comfort of your home. Dig the ladder out of the garage this weekend and visually inspect your roof for any leaks or other physical defects like bowing, sagging, or discoloration. The roof is your home’s first line of defense against the elements, so taking a few minutes to make sure it is in good shape can save you a TON of hassle down the road. Even if you end up having to replace the entire roof, even that cost is extremely cheap when compared to the cost of losing the entire home to mold or water damage.
Check Your Foundation and Stonework
Rapidly changing temperatures are one of the few things that can pose a serious threat to concrete and stonework. While our San Diego seasons tend to be fairly mild; brick, stone, and concrete can all be weakened by rapidly shifting temperatures. Take a few minutest to inspect your home’s foundation, driveway, and any other exterior stone work to ensure it hasn’t begun to crack or fail.
Get Your A/C Serviced
In just a few months, everyone will be blasting their A/C non-stop to help combat the warm summer weather. Know what happens when your A/C is forced into months and months of constant use after months and months of constant disuse? It can break. Don’t wait until your A/C has a problem before you get it serviced, by then it will be too late. Not only will you be hot and uncomfortable, but in all likelihood, you will have to wait much longer than usual for the repairman since everyone else’s A/C will be breaking at the same time. Save yourself time, money, and hassle by having your A/C serviced BEFORE the summer rush. Not only will you get to stay cool all summer, but the cost of preventative maintenance is almost always far lower than fixing the unit once something has gone wrong.
