San Diego is a large and diverse area with many varied neighborhoods within its borders. But which one is right for you to call home?

This week on the San Diego Real Estate BLOG, we continue our series of BLOGS that will look at each of these neighborhoods in turn to help you decide which is the best fit for you as search for your San Diego Dream Home!!!

Today we head east from South Park to stately Golden Hill.

 


 

Location

Golden Hill is bordered on the West by the 5 Freeway, on the South by the 94 Freeway, on the East by the 15 Freeway, and the North by Balboa Park and the Neighborhood of South Park.


 

Demographics

Golden Hill is a predominately middle to upper-middle class neighborhood with a population of approximately 19,500. The population is mostly White and Hispanic.

The median household income is $60,750 per person per year.


 

Geography

The geography of Golden Hill is relatively unremarkable and flat, making it ideal for residential neighborhoods. Golden Hill is extremely close to Downtown San Diego, and many Golden Hill residents are able to enjoy a commute time of less than 15 minutes as well as access to several kinds of public transportation.


 

Real Estate Market

Golden Hill is one of the oldest parts of the city of San Diego, and as such, it has collected quite a broad selection of home types throughout the years. One can find a home of virtually any style in this eclectic neighborhood that features a little bit of everything including Craftsman, California Bungalow, Mission Style, Victorian, Classical revival, Tudor, Post Modern Contemporary, ‘oriental’ influence, Swiss chalet, Art Deco, Contemporary, and more. Given that Golden Hill is close to downtown, while also featuring all that one could desire in a residential neighborhood, the homes in this area are highly sought after, and while expensive, they aren’t as highly priced as some of the other areas of San Diego proper.

Golden Hill has a median home price of $430,000


General Info

Golden Hill is an extremely walkable city neighborhood just a few short minuets from the heart of Downtown San Diego that is known as being very diverse and accepting of all members of the community. The area features a wide vareity of homes both in type and style, and is known a quieter residential neighborhood. In addition to it large selection of homes, Golden Hill also feature a large assortment of ecclectic, local dining and shopping opportunities. Golden Hill is very similar to North Park and South Park, but leans more toward the residential side of things, though it is home to several recording studios, and host two large music festivals annually. If you are looking for a relatively quiet neighborhood that is just minutes from all of the very best that the city of San Diego has to offer, the central location of Golden Hill would probably be right up your alley.
