San Diego Neighborhoods:
National City
San Diego is a large and diverse area with many varied neighborhoods within its borders. But which one is right for you to call home?
This week on the San Diego Real Estate BLOG, we continue our series of BLOGS that will look at each of these neighborhoods in turn to help you decide which is the best fit for you as search for your San Diego Dream Home!!!
Today we head to National City.
Location
National City is located just south of Downtown San Diego, just north of Chula Vista, and is bordered on the west by the San Diego Bay.
Demographics
National City is a medium-sized city with a population of 61,363. National City is known as an industrial and business hub with a strong cultural heritage.
The median income is $43,168 per person per year.
Geography
The geography of National City is fairly unremarkable, as it is just a flat urban center.
However, because of its location, National City is very close to downtown, so it can be appealing to those that work there or on one of San Diego’s many military bases.
The western side of the city is where you will find most of the businesses and industrial areas, and on the east you will find the residential neighborhoods.
Real Estate Market
National city is mostly an industrial hub, but it does have its residential areas, and like most of San Diego the price of the homes continues to climb steadily, though it is still one of the most affordable places to live in San Diego since it is not known as a residential center. While this area of the city is older, you can find some wonderful homes here (and some wonderful deals), though like the rest of San Diego it is gentrifying and homes tend to close for 1-3% over asking price and tend to go pending in less than a week.
Imperial Beach has a median home price of $404,018
General Info
National City is the second oldest city in San Diego. It is known as a business and industrial center, and was recognized as one of the first “auto malls” in America. It also has many hotels, a few museums, great parks, its fair share of dining and shopping.
The city government has made great strides making the city a much nicer place to live that it was ten to twenty years ago, and there is now a thriving city culture and many civic events that take place on a regular basis.
If National City sounds like a good fit for you and you would like help finding a home here, our Buyers Agents Svetlana and Dianna would be happy to help you find your San Diego Dream Home.
