Today we head east from Downtown into the charming neighborhood of South Park.
Location
South Park is bordered on the West by Balboa Park, Switzer Canon to the North, Golden Hill to the South, and Juniper Canyon and the 15 Freeway to the East.
Demographics
South Park is a predominately white neighborhood (82%) that has a population density 15% lower than the rest of San Diego and higher cost of living than most other areas in San Diego.
The median household income in South Park is $71,000 per person per year.
Geography
The geography of South Park is relatively flat which makes it ideal for residential neighborhoods.
Real Estate Market
South Park is one of San Diego’s more expensive real estate market. The area is known for it’s gorgeous Spanish and Colonial Revival Homes, many of which are designated as historically significant homes. There has been a recent push to have the entire neighborhood designated as historically significant. While the homes in this neighborhood are predominantly single family residences, there are also some small apartment and bungalow courts. The area is heavily gentrified and is becoming more so by the day with many of the multi-unit homes being bought up and converted into single family residences.
South Park has a median home price of $722,000
General Info
South Park is a small, quiet, and charming neighborhood know for its amazing homes and equally amazing indie shopping and dining. Everything about this neighborhood is infused with an eclectic “local” feeling. The homes are all of a similar style, but very unique in their own rights. You will find some of the best eclectic shops in all of San Diego, which feature ktichy items you won’t anywhere else, as well as some of the best craft food eateries in all of San Diego, and even the nation. You will find most of the businesses along 30th street which functions as the main thoroughfare, with the residential areas nestled behind. Three times a hear the neighborhood hosts a walkabout where you can take a tour of the area and get a feel for all this amazing neighborhood has to offer.
