IF you are looking to get a little exercise this Cinco de Mayo, we suggest the The Cinco de Mayo Trail Race & 5K on the Lake Poway Trial which offers challenging and unique courses that take you out around the lake, through the local foothills around the lake near the Blue Sky Ecological Reserve.
The 5K is a bit more relax and is intended to let participants pick their own pace whether you are an elite trail runner, doing a challenging family fun, run or even just taking a gorgeous morning nature hike.
For a real challenge, step up to the 10K which adds a grueling up-and-down, out-and-back trek into the Blue Sky Ecological Preserve and a very intense +10% grade climb to the Ramona Dam.
Children are encouraged to take part in the Kathy Crafts Young Memorial Kids Race for kids 7 and under who aren’t ready to tackle the 5K and the mini-runners who want the fun without the competition! A short 1/3-mile course follows one of the trails on the near-side of Lake Poway and and shares a finish line with the 10K and 5K.
