Located northwest of Balboa Park and south of Mission Hills, Hillcrest is an extremely progressive community notable for it’s rich cultural diversity, it’s plethora of ethnically diverse restaurants, bars, nightclubs, trendy thrift stores, and many other small, independent shops. Hillcrest is known for it’s “tolerance and acceptance,” and as such has a large LGBT community and is home to the annual San Diego Gay Pride Parade.
